Ahem :hello:
I'm supposed to be the pedantic old b***** around here, so a few words of explanation are called for.
Yes, MkI & MkII are stricktly correct but ... in this brave new world, many have not received a classical education like we did and so are unsure of Roman numerals. My computer is also unsure how to print them. As a result I find it safer to use plain English and so avoid any hint of confusion - honest. :worried:
Cheers :cheers:
Dave M(oly)
p.s. - thinking about it, I can think of a couple more old pedants here .(no names, no pack drill). :lol:

I jokingly thought to myself 'I bet there's a phone app for Roman numerals.' And there is... :doh:

Is there any more word on the P3D4 version of the Gladiator? I am very much looking forward to it.

Sorry, I got side tracked with other (non FS) stuff.
I'll try and get it uploaded tomorrow.

Here's the P3d conversion:
http://daveg.cbfsim.org/files/Gloster_Gladiator_P3d.zip

It's the complete model, with the original 2 paint schemes. Let me know if there's anything wrong or missing. If all's well I'll upload it to SOH later.

I took her up for a spin today and I am very impressed. The issues I found are minor but here they are:

The tail wheel was set with a turning radius of 0, which means its impossible to turn on the ground. Not sure if its supposed to be a castor or steerable, I changed mine to 60 to make it easier to navigate the airport. I did try it at 180 and was able to maneuver it off the runway but since I don't use rudder pedals I will leave it at 60.

I could not turn on either the radio or the GPS, only by changing "electric_always_available" to = 1 was I able to get them to work. There is probably a better way to fix it since with both battery and engine off they still function, but that is the first one I could find that worked.

One small thing, the title property for the mark one is

title=Gladiator Mk I

while the mark two is

title=Gladiator Mk 2

Which has the effect that in the P3D aircraft selector the mark two lists before the mark one. Maybe for consistency the mark one should be "Mk 1" or the mark two should be "MK II". I also like the manufacturer name in the title so I changed them to:

title=Gloster Gladiator Mk I

and

title=Gloster Gladiator Mk II

I know I get very fussy about the title names on my setup so if this request seams silly to you I won't be upset if its ignored.

And the most minor of things which you probably already know, the Graticule switch does not seam to do anything but its of no importance since I have no reason to ever use it.

Edit: I was able to get the GPS and radios working better by adding a 'radios' section to the aircraft.cfg file.

Code: Select all

[Radios]
Audio.1=1
Com.1=1, 0
Com.2=1, 0
Nav.1=1, 1, 1
Nav.2=0, 0, 0
Adf.1=1
Adf.2 = 1
Transponder.1=1
Marker.1=1
Lastly it needs a ui_createdby tag so those involved get proper credit, something like.

ui_createdby="David Molyneaux"
or
ui_createdby="David Molyneaux/Dave Garwood"
