The F-16 is rather impressive at airshows.
Even rubber bullets wouldn't have helped the engine.

According to a post on another forum from an F-16 driver, it is not unknown for one or two rounds to be 'slow burners' which slows them down, causing them to be hit by the next round in line. It's the resulting fragments from that hit that caused the damage in this case, at least that seems likely.

Due to shortages and cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.
