Going to Extremes?

Post by Buggyman »

I've been considering a new PC to replace my current quite zippy beast. In my search I popped into my old pals at PC Specialists and had a fiddle with a couple of outlays - just window(s) shopping so to speak.

Anyway, in the way of the internet I am now being followed round by different offerings from the said company ranging from rigs at about a grand to one at nigh on six grand. The top priced one below is quoted at £5,803.00. Would that cut the mustard? :poke:

Intel® Core™ i9-9980XE
ASUS® WS X299 PRO
64GB Corsair VENGEANCE 3000MHz
24GB NVIDIA TITAN RTX
4TB SEAGATE IRONWOLF PRO

If it is any good can anyone lend me a few quid - about £5,808.00 to be exact.... :poke:

Alan, to be quite honest with you, as you are looking for a new computer to fly flight simulations, for that price you can go one better...............Get your PPL for that price instead! :poke:

I presume that you are already in the red by £5!
I would go for the PPL, my cheap laptop will just about work, but my 10 year old desktop (my sons throwout) is OK for my needs.

I was hoping no one would notice the £5 discrepancy! There goes another 'get rich quick' scheme :'(

As for a PPl I doubt if I could pass the medical to ride a bike at the moment.

The best part in all this is I opted to proceed to the next step in 'ordering' to be given a list compatibility problems! They designed the kit!

You totally skimped on the RAM, could have gone for 3600Hz. Y'all forgot water cooling too, what were you thinking?? :poke:

Alex, the kit listed was as offered by PCSpecialists - I didn't ask for anything. I suppose it was just a fishing expedition on their part seeing as I had recently had a look-see at what was on offer and also the fact that I have bought from them every couple of years for myself or other members of the family. As RAM goes, I have no idea what is fast/good or not.

Nigel, thanks, I will have a look.

Hi Ben, My current kit is all SSD with a 2TB drive just for P3D, the only mechanical drive I now have is one for the basic admin chores with Word and ACE accounts and photos.

Any new PC would have to be likewise equipped.

SWMOWQ says that I can spend whatever I want as recent close calls prove that I can't take it with me so...…….. maybe I will get serious about buying something. Who knows?

Get your PPL for that price instead!
PPL will set you back ten grand easily.
