Classic British wish-list for MSFS 2020

Post by spatialpro »

None of the 3 default editions of the new MSFS include anything which is Classic and British :| If you had it your way, what would be the first 3 Classic British aircraft to be developed and released for the new sim? List and discuss away...!

Mine would be:

Hawker Hunter
Blackburn Buccaneer
Supermarine Scimitar

(as you can see I have a preference for jets, esp. of the Naval variety)

Formerly "Airtrooper"

i9-10900KF, 64Gb RAM,
RTX 3090, HP Reverb G2, Win10 Pro 64-bit
Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals, Saitek X52 Pro

Trident 2+3

HS748

Ricks' Jetstream

Although the cockpits of the Trident and HS748 might need a bit of touching up in order to match that of the graphics of MS2020, all of these aircraft would fit in nicely with my type of flying.

Nigel.

Top of my list would have to be a good Spitfire, as for the rest, it all depends what sort of mood I'm in.

Probably go for:
Spitfire
146/RJ
Hunter

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the SDK. I'm hoping to convert some of my models over to the new sim if possible. :cpu: (no guarantees though)

Such a difficult choice but I would say:-
HS 748
Vanguard or Viscount family
BAC 1-11
There are so many great classic British aircraft models that were created by excellent modellers whose skills I suspect were only limited by the host sim at the time. :) EricT

This is probably the only reason stopping me from buying 2020 on day one. Without divulging too much, it's a total game changer ( no pun meant  )
Visually so much improved on what's out there currently with a slicker, up to date interface. No need for Orbx, better clouds, weather, it's all there, only better. The problem is of course, theres no 1-11 , Trident, Comet, 748 :S
I hope that some of our more knowledgeable will be able to convert the models to Msfs 2020

DG and I were chatting about this the other week. It’s all guesswork without the SDK and documentation. The model format looks doable, unknown is the flight dynamics/ panels / gauges etc.
The one bit of consistency seems to be the flight plans for AI and ships look to be the existing format, in fact I was able to decompile the default one using AIFPC.

BAC 1-11, VC10, Comet. Perhaps it will inspire Mr. Maltby.... :poke: No?

There's an interview posted over at avsim which contains some interesting info regarding legacy aircraft. To quote s couple of items:
Q: Legacy air plane support has been promised. How will this work, will it be a matter of drag and drop or do we need the SDK to rebuild?
A: It has not been a promise, we said we'll try to make it possible for the planes you have by default in FSX. The more complex third party planes may not work, the technology is too far from what we are doing now.
Q: I'm interested in the methodology to import an old plane?
A: It's a drag and drop system, but we can't promise they all work, it's technically not possible to support every one of them.
Reading that, I hope simple Fsx native aircraft using xml gauges will work out of the box. I doubt any dll or gau type gauges will work.
