Hmmm... tricky one, Mike, but I'll guess at a Supermarine Spiteful.

You're quick off the starting blocks today! :)
Some are closer than others, so I'll toss this into the mix, which may help or confuse :dunno:
I'm feeling tough today, but there is some real information here that will stitch it up for one or two. :OB:

OK, with the new information revealed by the second photo, I'd like to change my guess to the Hawker Tempest I prototype (I think there was only one).
Pete

Edit: Oops - just noticed that Dev One has already said that and without the help of the second photo! Sorry Keith.

Champion, Keith! I think I'm being tough, but you are all so very observant.

Maybe the next one will just be a couple of rivets?
And Pete....

Credit to Joe for the artwork on these metal and gemstone models.
I thought that "B" might cause more confusion, as it doesn't look like any production Tempest.
They still had quite a lot of problems, especially with the engine, which resulted in the Tempest V going ahead of the II.
"They" decided to overlook the failings and get production under way. This was fortunate, as it was one of the few
fighters fast enough to intercept V-1s, and it saved 9 months of delay.
The big one:
