I searched for Russian planes, but didn't spot it.

At least you were looking in the right area, Den!
If you don't get a diamond badge on the next birthday-free day, I'll be disappointed.

Re: Bitzer project
I built an Airfix one as a kid, so was quite confident on first seeing the picture. The Pe-2 went on to become one of my favourite WWII aircraft - sleek with a nice twin fin design.

Why did you leave it till the last minute before sending your correct answer? Maybe you're not here every day?
I stopped regular Airfix buying about 1963. I never saw or built one of these.
Out of interest, about when would you have bought yours?

I hadn't been feeling too well, so went to bed and missed logging in.
As to when I bought my model is a bit of a guess. I used to spend all of my pocket money on model kits from the age of about 8 to 12, so it would have been mid 70's. I can still remember running excitedly up the road to the news agents (who sold Airfix kits) on a Saturday morning. I usually put them together as fast as I could which didn't make for the best of quality. I also remember the Pe-2 being a particularly difficult build with some badly fitting parts.
Did you have one?
Kevin

Re: Bitzer project
Hi Kevin,
Sorry to hear that you have been unwell. Hope you're over it now.
SNAP!
I used to cycle over to Woolworths in Ruislip, to check out the latest offerings.
Like you, fast building was the name of the game!
Sometimes, the decals went on before the paint was properly dry.
Next, the poor thing was attached to a string, with a bolt or heavy washer on the end of the line.
Then ensued the flight test, like those tethered diesel engined flying wings that the other kids flew in circles at the playing fields.
Mine had to land in the front garden grass.
Having survived this, they went on cotton threads, suspended from the roof beams in the loft with all the others.
I never had a Pe-2. I'd say they were not on the market before I stopped my obsession.
As I said to DogTailRed2, I now have a cupboard full of unmade kits, which I haven't had the confidence to start.
What a far cry from the old days! Are you still building?
Keep well.

Re: Bitzer project
A change of tack today.
A bit of a bit.
A chance for everyone to get an award.
"Like shooting fish in a barrel." "Easy as." Depends on where you come from.
All you need to do is report which instrument this is part of.
PM replies, please.
