Caffeine HIT!

Post by Airspeed »

We've heard that there's to be a 3 year coffee shortage and big price increase.
As usual, it seems that the growers get next to nothing for their efforts.
Decent coffee here is over AU$30 Kg, unless you do like me, and stock up when it's half price special.
This from the ABC news page:
Coffee drinkers could soon be paying more for a caffeine hit, or be served a poorer-quality brew instead, as global price hikes hit the local coffee industry.
Key points:

Global coffee prices have surged 21.6 per cent
Climate change and global supply chain issues are behind the rising cost
Importers of specialty beans from Brazil have been hit with a 40 per cent price hike

The "world price of coffee" has surged 21.6 per cent this year to $3.65 a kilogram, according to IBISWorld.

I know thar rhwew are procwssing costs, but "Somebody" is making a big margin :dunno:

Are you sure that it's caffeinated beverages that you're drinking, Mike! :hide:

Any excuse to hike prices these days.

The whole world is run on greed now in my opinion.

Got an envelope from the NHS yesterday which has printed on the fromt, "Every missed appointment costs the NHS £160.00." And they complain about poor wages!

Since I gave up sugar, I don't enjoy my morning coffee so much now. Still, it's better to be miserable and healthy, isn't it ? :agree:

I gave up on milk and sugar in my coffee and tea some years ago, frankly I do not mind at all now but do have one luxury that I will not stop having and really enjoy it, twice a day. Just having one now as I write...............................Absolutely delicious!! ;)

I have never tested them on this but here we are warned that failing to turn up for an appointment could result in a fine (for want of a better word). The B.C. Health people tend to call a few days in advance of said appointment just to confirm that you are aware of it and that you have not suffered some catastrophic loss of memory  . It is a bit of a deterrent I suppose. Dentists etc do the same although they are private and not part of the Health Dept.

Since being back in UK since June '19, Wife & I always get a message on mobiles that we have made an appointment from our surgery & get a reminder a day or two in advance of the appointment, Hospital appointments usually give a reminder too.

Similar reminders here, and yet we are rarely seen within an hour of the appointed time. they double book to cover any late cancellations, so they run late through the entire day :wall:

Procwssing costs are more expensive that processing costs, btw :$
