Such a Tragedy

Post by Nigel H-J »

Terrible, a real tragedy. :((

Watching the video it could well be that the pilot flying the fighter aircraft could possibly had lost eye contact with the B17 in the left turn and not known how close he actually was until impact!

My thoughts are with those families who have lost their loved ones.

RIP.

A terrible accident. My condolences to the family and friends of those involved.

Word of warning: some may not want to watch the video linked above as it contains rather graphic video of the crash.

Dreadful to watch. Blancolirio makes some early speculation about why the collision occurred, but obviously a full enquiry will get to the bottom of it. Very sad indeed.

Looks likely the P63 had the B17 in its blindspot , was commencing it's display and was focused elswhere; we had a similar near miss at Great Warbirds in 1988, a Spitfire ran in to start it's show, while the RAF PR9 Canberra was still doing its routine luckily John Cuthbertson the display director saw the Spit rolling in and told it to er " go away".
