The FS forums are full of people moaning. The notes that we all got before we installed it all say that its cut down,

Please note the TECHNICAL Alpha is an in-development build and not at all representative of the final product. The Technical Alpha build was created with the sole intent to gather telemetry and feedback on online services. The content available for the Technical Alpha is limited in scope. You may also encounter obvious crashes, bugs, and issues. Instructions on where to provide feedback will be shared with those selected to participate.

That does seam to be the norm for the FS Forum, everyone moans about everything, nobody there is ever happy.

Its really deflating sometimes isn’t it Joe. I have sympathy for genuine issues but when people moan about stuff that if they’d read the instructions would realise wasn’t covered. I can only take it over there in small doses 😂

I don't think I'm even registered at official Microsoft flightsim forum. Avsim, for all its faults, is sufficient for me.

From what I have seen on YouTube with the plethora of videos now appearing, it does look as if it will be a big improvement on 2020, the detail for the ground and elevation etc look pretty amazing but the test will be the streaming constraints that many out there will undoubtedly have due to their particular location or other problems. We are in the process of changing our broadband which is at the moment 70mbs so I will certainly need to look at something a lot better I fear.

We have been assured most aircraft we own will port over so not so much a worry but we shall see.

Hopefully the avionics display will be brighter than it currently is, on my system at least, the display is far too dim and sometimes quite difficult to read.

The 'try before you buy' option on Marketplace sounds good though...I think we have all bought an aircraft that once you get it then on occasions you wish you hadn't ;)

Anyway, I think from what I have seen, most of us will be wanting 2024 as the improvements all around look far superior to what we have at the moment.

I got accepted, I am also suffering because the controls are all different and many controllers do not have default settings.
Also there are only three aircraft available, the C172, XCub and F/A-18E. I did do a couple flights, along the California coast and around my home, the scenery is impressive. An example, my home here in Fremont, California

What FS2020 looks like
Image
Basic, there is a building in the right location and the roads turn the right way

But here is 2024:

This could be a photograph, you can see our solar panels, pool even the stepping stones in the back lawn.

Edit: Sorry it took me a bit to get the image links right.
Impressive, Joe,
What happened to the dual carriageway? It looks like only one road now.

Blimey....that is impressive!! The old M$ saying 'As real as it gets' seems to be more accurate with this new version. ;)

What happened to the road is a good question, compared to the real thing the FS2020 version was much to open. the center divider has trees on it, there is a drainage canal on the far side and fences on both sides with the high school just beyond. If I was to guess I would think FS2020 is using the same sort of database that a GPS would use to know what type of roads are where while FS2024 is using satellite maps and AI to figure out instead and while better in general in this case the trees must be confusing it.

It does look impressive and I'll probably get it earl 2025. I'm soon to change my GPU from a vanilla 2070 to a 7800 XT, so that's enough expenditure for a bit.
