Fires - Whoops

Post by Airspeed »

I was telling Simon (simondix) the other day, that they were doing fuel reduction burns hereabouts.
It got out of control, and we now have a forest fire, aircraft and 129 vehicles responding. 4Km away.
Unpleasant night, air very smoky.
Coming back from our Daughter's place, saw a sign reading "Smoke may be visible". It was so thick, I thought it should have read "Road may be visible"
We're not in immediate danger, but advised to monitor conditions and keep track on the emergency app.

When I was in Australia in 2023, travelling on the Ghan from Darwin to Adelaide, we learned of fires ahead of us that were threatening the railway line. I think we went past it all during the night, but some people claimed they woke up and could smell smoke in their cabins. I slept through it.
