An Open question for Pete P

Post by DispatchDragon »

I have noticed that there are two items that are missing in my Flight Sim
experience - especially as I now operating Classic British aircraft in
uncontrolled remote airspace....No HF and NO Selcal. out of curiousity
how difficult would it be to model these items and intergrate them into
something like Radar Contact 4 or even VATSIM??? It might also be of interest to the guys who are flying the VC10 long range around the world for CBFSVA.

Just thinking

yeeekkk 'orrible words --- The three holers we had at Key and Gulf had Omega (when it worked) Actually the reason I was asking is Selcal and HF would be nice in the cockpit of HJGs DC8 -55 Jet Trader where it belongs
The other reason was on my little trip from PHNL to Midway Henderson
the other day it dawned on me I should be making postion reports to San Francisco Radio and NOT Oakland Center on VHF. Ok Im a Luddite - I also need my Litton 71 Carousel

Hi Leif,
Can't comment on VATSIM - for obvious reasons, I stay well away from it  - but I think I can safely promise you what you want in future versions of RC. Several of the beta team are keen ocean fliers and the sort of things that have been discussed are "proper" Oceanic clearances and phraseology. Although not specifically mentioned, I've no doubt SELCAL would be an essential ingredient.

Don't get too excited, though - Radar Contact 4 was 2 years in the making and the new feature list for V5 isn't, as far as I know, finalised yet so quite when these things will appear I couldn't say. :dunno:
