Driver falls out of truck

Post by airboatr »

hello all
I came across this story reading my local paper online.
Now I feel bad for the guy and everything ,really
but for crying out loud . How the heck can this happen???
If this where played out in a comedy (or tragedy lol)
movie. the viewer would surley say "No way that would ever happen"
I wonder if this is what they mean by "Dumb Luck"

My question is: How do the wheels go over him if
Bernal fell out as the truck rolled on its right side.
Is this a case of the driver trying to get out rather than stay with the truck and made the wrong decision?? Very confusing news article

Glad he is alive, but a bit of a depressing story. Guy falls or jumps out of his crashing lorry and then it falls on him.

If the truck was starting to jackknife, and he jumped, it could quite easily go over him.
The safe option, is to stay with it, and try to steer it out of trouble.

I have had the unfortunate experience of it happening, twice. Both times because of brake differential balance.

The only time to jump, is if your heading into a concrete wall.

Too true. The one we have down the road is always thundering about.

Didnt Brian Harvey (Think East 17) run himself over? He almost died.

having driven many hours on the us interstate, this sounds very much like he fell asleep at the wheel. the trk went to the right then he was thrown out.
first why was he not wearing his seat belt as it's the law, also i would like to see his official log book and the two under his bunk. i know of many driver's including myself that have gone over the 70hrs in eight days. only a few companies have sat links to the trk,s.
with what i drive now, i would not jump out. the first trler might miss me but the second would not.

My bet
talking on the damn cell phone and not wathcing what he was doing
I,ve driven many types and sizes of trucks
I always wear a seat belt
Driving over a slump or hump in the road can
paste you to the cieling
much like flight turbulance
which was my first thought as to how he was flipped
from the cab
Like a like a cherry tomato
from a wildly tossed diner salad

I laugh because It is a bit of a mediphor
about life
when it rains it pours
he not only has to deal with the humiliation
of causeing a crash because he wasn't properly operating the truck
but he ran over himself
can you imagine having to fill out the insurance forms
Awnser the Line
the How did you incure your injuries:
I was run over by the truck
that I was driving

Nasty.....but it does happen!!

back in the Seventies I was following an artic (ERF - Having a Fibre Glass Cab) I was also driving the same type of truck, along the A17 towards Sleaford at night when a car travelling in the opposite direction overtook traffic....the end result was that the Artic, on hitting the car, overturned onto its back. The female driver was seriously injured and as I made towards the cab of the lorry I saw that it was completely crushed......Expecting the worst, I tried to feel inside for any signs of life and it was then that the driver appeared........He had been thrown out as the lorry overturned and was unhurt!!!!! He then told me that this was the second time that year that this has happened to him and he was now not going to drive anymore!! Who could blame him.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
