Steerable tail wheel

Post by Blister »

I think this may be an aircraft.cfg tweak, but I'm not sure.... What is the fix to make the tail wheel steerable? (blowed if I can remember!) :-({|=

Still up for a squadron scramble if anyone's interested - where, when (but more importantly) HOW??

In the contact points section of the aircraft.cfg, the castoring tailwheel will have a "steer angle" of 180
To get a decent steerable tailwheel, I think a value around 30 would be appropriate.

Here is the tailwheel on the MAAM DC3 set for Easy Steering:-

point.0=1.0, -37.0, 0.0, -1.00, 1575.0, 0.0, 0.75, 40.0, 0.22, 2.5, 0.7, 33.0, 33.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0

That 40.0 is the relevant figure and it works wonderfully well if you have no pedals and have Autorudder ticked.

Here is the Real Steering for the same aircraft:-

point.0=1.0, -37.0, 0.0, -1.00, 1575.0, 0.0, 0.75, 180.0, 0.22, 2.5, 0.7, 33.0, 33.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0

Note the 180.0 instead of 40.0...180 makes it castoring and would be VERY difficult to taxy if you have no pedals.
