Just watched Poirot on ITV.

The "Mayfield Kestrel" looked familiar.

 It was a late mark Spitfire with cannon armament. Also liked the WWII era control tower behind them thats too late for the 30s period  Ah well, I suppose they get some marks for effort and how many actual original 1930s aircraft could they have found instead?

Toby,

Of course I recognised it. Painted blue/grey at least, if not quite the same shade as K5054.

4-bladed prop and intakes under each wing were obviously wrong, but as you say, they tried.

reckons it was MH434 at West Malling

More info at: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/archiv ... 54696.html

"the episode of Poirot is called "The Incredible Theft", filmed in 1989. The basic plot is that the blueprints for a brand new fighter plane called the "Mayfield Kestrel" have been stolen from the designer's study. MH434 appears in a take-off and display scene masquerading as the "Kestrel" with Ray at the helm, '434 being painted in the high-altitude light grey scheme she wore in the late 80's."
