Hi,

Just one question (maybe already posted)....is there a taxi light on the
HS748 and if yes where is the switch to turn it on? Thanks

Hello L'maire and welcome to the forum :wink:

This should have been in the 748 support thread but that aside, I believe the taxi lights on the 748 were the leading edge lamps. However, on my model, they do not come on or go off without the landing lamps being turned on. I'm not sure why this happens and with all the flights I've done in it, never noticed it before :shock: :think:

Hi Guys

as far as the 748 goes it has no Taxy lights.

some aircraft had Dual Filament Landing lamps to Taxy on low beam.

Some aircraft have a retrofit Taxy lamp fitted just in front of the nosgear door with a clear perspex cover.

these seem to be Ex RAAF & RNZAF airframes.

So to avoid yet another model for a rare function i left them out.

I already have 5 seperate models to keep upto date with the Andover C1 in progress that is 6 which for me is already too many.

It's obvious from the panels (which include all the available switches) that there isn't a taxi switch there and looking at how the lamps shine, the leading edge lamps seemed a likely candidate to fulfill that function. I looked long and hard at the nosewheel and presumed the taxi lamp had been knicked along with my HS hubcaps at some point!! :lol:

Hi Rick,

No need to convince me matey. I knew that if it wasn't there, it wasn't there.. if that doesn't sound to ridiculous :lol:

One quick point though. On the model, the leading edge lamps give a nice 'taxi-ish' spread of light on the ground but on the real thing (likewise on the model too if you have the lamps turned off) the lamps would mainly light the leading edges so very little (I'd guess) would spill onto the ground and certainly not 'defined' beams. Of course, I appreciate that it isn't possible to physically 'illuminate' the model so to have them modelled is a bit like being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
