Many thanks for the replies guys.Time to start searching. It set me off last weekend when I visited the Cockpit Fest at Newark Air Museum and invested the princely sum of 50p to go onboard the Hastings-oh and also the Shackleton and Varsity.Hang the expense! The Varsity brought back memories of flying on one for about an hour over Northern Ireland in about 1959/60.That was during our ATC summer camp at RAF Ballykelly.Shackeltons were based ther at the time-can't recall which squadron.Magic days.ATB EricT

As somebody who worked as a rigger on Hastings for 4years, I can tell you that the FS model is not terribly accurate. However, it brings back many happy memories, especially when flown from RAF Colerne, which has been faithfully reproduced by Ray Shepard.

The undercarriage is not right. The nose and cockpit also. Zoom in on the cockpit, and the crew positions are also wrong. As for the engines, they just don't have enough grunt. With all four Hercules at full power, it was a noisy beast, inside and out.

The FS model doesn't handle very well, whereas the real thing was very agile for its' size. The model stops very quickly, but the brakes on the real thing left much to be desired. I've seen many brake-sack fires.

Having said all that, I enjoy rolling it out from time to time, and am just thankful that I can.

Dennis.

Now I feel bad about critising someones hard work. Truat me!

I have got a soundset that I used for the Hastings, I will dig around and let you know where I got it from, although I did have to modify it. It does sound like the real thing as far as I can remember.

I used the freeware soundset for the Beaufighter by Lawdog2360 and modified it for 4 engines as opposed to 2.

This is a local mod I have done and have not uploaded it anywhere. If anyone is interested, I will contact Lawdog2360 and ask his permission to distribute his modified work.
