I had a go with the trial Cloud9 104 last night but wasn't tempted enough to buy it. 2D panel looks a treat but shows rather too much leaving nowt to see out of :o Lot's happening in the VC too but having tried to tweak the view down (or is that up) to give a better view out, I couldn't get 'the view' to go where I wanted and ended up seeing rather more of the ground than necessary

It is
not a model for the casual sim pilot

You only get 7mins per trial and it shuts Fsim down. This didn't really give me enough time to see if I wanted it or not and irritated me enough not to buy it. Of course.. you can keep restarting the sim to get another 7mins but by that time.. I'd lost interest.

Hmmm...at $15 its a bit of a steal, isn't it. I'm not usually one for
small military jets ( as opposed to bombers ), but there are a few that take my fancy. Rick's Meteor is one, Kirk Olsson's Mirage F.1 is another. I think I'll have a look at that trial version and get back to you.
Thanks all! CHEERS

Paul..
Be aware that the installer add's an 'Addon Manager' to your flightsim taskbar. There is no sign of any cloud 9 software in 'add and remove programs' and nothing obvious in 'modules' To give you a better idea.. if you've ever loaded any Lago products, it's like the one Lago leaves in your taskbar. One would have expected it to have been removed with the uninstall though

Thanks for the warning Dave. Have you managed to remove it yet ?

Dave, Cloud9's technical support forum looks pretty active. I've had a quick look through to see if I could spot something relevant to your problem, but maybe its an old issue and further back in the archives. No doubt you'd get plenty of help there.

I'm still very tempted by this model, I must say.

Thanks Paul ;-)
Cloud9 use the addon manager for you to pay for the download. Seems an odd way to do things but that's what it's for. Anyway.. I think I'm gonna join em and go for the Frecce set which is also at half price and looks a great deal more manageable (for an old git like me!)

I've downloaded it.. all I need to do now is install and have a look. Will let you know what I find ;-)

The Frecce set is great fun, highly recommended. It has fairly comprehensive systems and failure modelling but the aircraft itself isn't that complex, I knocked up a fictional polished silver UK registered version and enjoyed hours zipping around Wales in it.

Thanks for that Chris.. I think I'm just about sold ;-) Well.. it's a.. err.. bank holiday present!
EDIT OK.. I got sold and am very happy with my lot (not the F104 you understand.. the Frecce collection) ;-) I was a bit worried about the amount of fire and smoke I seemed to generate but have since realised this was a consequence of my 'breaking it' (exceeding flap speeds.. gear speeds e t c) A lovely model, great manual (though I'll have to read it unfortunately) and all for £9.32inc ;-) Definately not for the casual user (and neither is the F104.. better to go for the ALPHA model if 'casual' is what you are) but all things considered.. good value, even at FULL price ;-)
