To rub a bit of salt in....

I've converted to FSX, and I have the exact same performance as in FS9, but more fluent.

On top of that I think that FSX is generally a better product than FS9 ....

Not too good an opinion to have around these parts, but there you go.....

I'm a Dane, what can I say....

Thanks again Guys. Funnily enough I had my grubby Mitts on a copy of FS04 going for a tenner in a local shop last week.

Now what's the betting they will be out of stock when I go up.....? :worried:

TBH Jim

With the amount of add ons and support for FS9 it is worth even paying full price for.

But you should get it cheaper.....but whatever discount you get you won't be dissapointed.

As David said, FS2004 is better supported than fsx. Also there's a whole Classic Aviation planes that simply aren't made for fsx: from retro airports from CalClassic, Early 60's airports in Europe, a whole series of Propliners, beautifully crafted Russian planes and first generation jets from the Historical Jetliners Group. Many developers don't even go near fsx, like the Tinmouse Project or the SCS or the Project TU. And if you have a large hard drive you can have multiple installations of FS9: I have 3! :)
Even if you stay with FS2002, there's still support for it as well as planes (Milton Shuppe still designs for it). Hey, there's still two chaps designing planes and scenery for FS98! :)

Don't listen to Dan, we've nothing against FSX users. :worried: The forum owner is an FSX convert himself.

If you're specifically wanting to fly 1-11, VC10, Trident etc, then you should be aware that they don't work properly in FSX.
The new Comet is just about acceptable (not for me though)

They certainly don't! Getting a fully fuelled Trident into the air in FSX is nerve-racking to say the least! Ever felt the stick pusher when you're not expecting it? :o

I've actually been back to FS9 with the new Comet, and gave the Trident a run out in it too. I must say I'm quite impressed, especially at the panning smoothness with TrackIR. I guess I've grown accustomed to the maddening inconsistency of FSX. Once you're off the ground, it doesn't look that much different anyhow. On the downsides of FS9, there isn't time to make a coffee after hitting the Fly Now button...

HI Guys

A funny thing: and I gave it no thought until tonight: I was running an older system when FS04 came out, so obviously had a good reason to be wary of framerates - but as i upgraded my system last year I should be OK. I'm always a bit wary in any case of [FSX] jumping in to software immediately (not least as I'm always playing catch-up with machine specs).

There are certainly some tremendous looking additions for FS04 out there, so I think I shall take good advice and make the purchase.

I'm going through a 'Classics' phase at the moment, and I can't wait to give DM's Comet a try-out - in the meantime I'll content myself with doing touch and gos/circuits/ploughing at EGQL with the VC10. What a superb model!

Right... where's that checklist...? ;-)

Welcome to the Forum Jim

It seems (as usual) wheneever their Lordships pass a new model to us (the great unwashed) there is an immeadiate flurry
of new registrations. :) You will enjoy the company here and the fact that most of us are quite mad.....I spent most of
last night updating the AFCAD for Lasham purely so i could relive some of my misspent youth on the jumpseat of Dan
Air 1-11s (and so Id have somewhere to take the Comets for maintenance)

Cheers

Leif

HI Leif

Yes, You are spot-on there - once again you have DM to thank for this particular registration as I found You through his excellent site.. ;-)

Seems for 'madness' I shall fit in nicely: I have been attempting to land the Trident at EGHS (Henstridge) - a 750M runway. Why???????
