Saitek New

I have to say, im a big fan/user of saitek kit. I have the X52, Rudder Pedals and the GM-3200 mouse, i did have the Eclipse 2 but i sent that back due to a fault... The kit by saitek is brill, easy to use and set up when you get the hang of it. I would deffinatly surgest saitek over other manufactures

Never had any luck with Saitek stuff myself so I'll be avoiding this and sticking with Thrustmaster. It's not the build quality or anything I have issues with but the size of the thing, it always feels like it was designed with gnomes in mind and those of us with large hands really have to suffer with Saitek gear.

Anything I have had in the past saitek wise has always been top notch so this may well be considered as I would like one with separate controls for pitch etc. Might wait for my trusty old MS Sidewinder force feedback one to break first, though I doubt it will.

I was very excited about the X52 Pro and got one for my birthday (aww - still asking for toys at the age of 40!) I liked the feel of the product but setting it up was a nightmare! Not like my CH Control Yoke where I jsut ticked one box and it picked up all the defaults without any further programming. With the X52, I had to nominate all the functions myself, and programme them. this seemed to clash with my wireless mouse and keyboard - it was just unusable. EWven when I could it work with FS9, the response rate was very slow - particularly pannin around the VC. Bit miffed cos it just looked so much better than my CH yoke does!

I'd like to put in a puff for Saitek too. I use their Aviator flightstick and its a really good way to give yourself two throttle controls if you don't have a lot of desktop space (or cash!) to dedicate to FS. I'd agree with folk that say setting up Saitek stuff isn't as easy as some but I use FSUIPC which takes a while but does it all anyway.

I did have some problems switching over to Vista but the Saitek support was very yquick and helpful (and more to the point fixed the problem!)

Had a look at this on the SkySim stall at Duxford today though I didn't have a play (in the sim) with it. It certainly 'feels' nice.. much smoother in operation than my rarely used CH Pro Yoke but tbh, the Yoke had quite a few years use so it's bound to feel a bit ratty now I DID have a play in the sim with the X52 and thought it felt a little too light for my taste. It was also a darned sight bigger than my old faithful M$ Sidewinder Precision Pro II and I consider THAT too big. Plenty of buttons and lights and stuff on it and I'm sure that the avid combat simmer can have a whale of a time with it but it's just too much for me. The newer stick is equally large in proportion so I can't see me buying anything Saitek :-(

Thought about that one myself and with 2 units joined you can have 4 throttles and 2 spare levers for spoilers and flaps.
