Well I've scanned the photos but BTInternet is not allowing me access to my FTP space at the moment :@

EDIT: suddenly fixed!

So images for viewing (thought I would include the whole page of prototypes)

Well done indeed, Ian, they look good, ta very much for scanning them in. The VN813 shot is the same, albeit a larger, better quality shot as the one I have. It still looks dark, and I'm still guessing black for the Spectre trials - what's everyone's consensus on that?

It's nice to see the other prototypes too.

Steve

Having looked at these scans (they are larger than the original photos!), the blue of the tail flash and the roundel on the Spectre Canberra is nowhere as different in shade as on the other two prototypes.

So I'm thinking the Spectre Canberra is NOT the same colour as the other two.

Perhaps even blue :dunno:

Hmmm i have to agree Ian and looking behind VN813 isn't that another Canberra beginning "WP" with the same colour?

You know, you are absolutely right chaps, it is darker that the overall finish...so a mid blue could well be the colour, which also confirms the Scramble listing details for the '57 show. I am getting in touch with Les Bywaters on this, perhaps he can shed some definitive light on the matter.

Just found in my book two more photos of VN813 in a different scheme - light top, dark underneath but with light underneath section at tail end. Spectre in action in one of the photos. I'll have to scan those in!

And there were only two WP Canberras, WP514 and WP515. The photo in which Techy spotted one og them was taken at Franborough 1956 according to caption. But neither get a mention anywhere (although a bit of 515 still exists).
