Hi Leif,

I'm not convinced that it will never fly again. Some of the current airworthy Spits have been rebuilt from less. As long as the constructor's plate is there they can build an airframe round it and pass it off as a restoration.

I was amazed at seeing all that was left of the MAAM P61 when they hauled it out of the jungle and they say that will fly again.

of course the incredible one was the Wildcats hauled out of the great lakes they had minimal replacement to make flyable again

As Steve says, all they need is the data plate...
