Isn't the "flare" problem something to do with the fact that the smoke is triggered from the [lights] section in the aircraft.cfg rather than the [smoke] section, and FS treats it as a light and you get all sorts of strange sparkly flare type effects during dawn and dusk hours?

Hi all,

Yes, it does seem as though it is a modified file, and I have had the same thing with a UK Mil plane too, so there is a connection somewhere.

it's a pity we can't find out which one it is and either eliminate the file altogether, or look for an alternative.

Thanks for all of your help though, that Poachers scheme is very nice.

Steve,

I can't speak for the other aircraft, but with the Hunters, you can edit the [lights] section of the aircraft.cfg to remove the smoke effect altogether.

[lights]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 8, -20.9, 0.0, 0.0, fx_flame_f6,
light.1 = 8, -22.9, 0.0, 0.0, fx_smoke_f6, <--remove or edit out this line
light.2 = 3, -6.87, -15.43, -0.36, fx_navred
light.3 = 3, -6.87, 15.43, -0.36, fx_navgre
light.4 = 3, -25.37, 0, 3.37, fx_navwhi
light.5 = 4, 10.89, 0, 1.61, fx_vclight_f6

Thanks Dave, much appreciated.

Oh and I nearly forgot, how do you deploy the chute in the Hunters, as in Huntpack6 etc. I can't get them to do it in any of the models for the life of me, sometimes I can't even get the air brake to open in flight, very strange.
