The left wingtip actually touched the runway.

You can see a puff of dust/debris as the left wing goes down.

Damage is shown here.

As much as I like flying, i definatly wouldn't want to be on that flight.

"Nearly" made todays 6.00pm news on BBC1 (might have also been on the 1.00pm news).

Would hate to have been a passenger on this flight, then see it on TV, (or the internet FTM), & realise just how close it came to crashing.

With that cross wind I am surprised that they were even allowing aircraft to land at all, what were they thinking.

Also saw it on the ITN 6:30 news this evening and they reported it has having happened TODAY :o

Thanks for confirming that, John.

I thought that the wing made contact, but then wondered if it was tyre smoke drifting across.

A totally avoidable incedent, that was so close to disaster.

I think, as left rudder is applied, it will cause the left wing to drop, which may have been the cause there. (obviously not corrected enough.)

The implication here is this was some sort of mistake on the part of the crew

All we see is a film which on it's own tells us little

Nothing is obvious

We can see it but do not know why that should have happened.
