Interesting about the scraping in India. It seems as there becomes more concern about environmental impact of disposing of ships, some of the UK yard have been bidding for work to safely dispose of some vessels. Swan Hunter, and Harlands are two that spring to mind. I suspect most companies would try and off load their aging fleets to coutries that don't give a dam, and then they can send them to india. :-(

To be fair Vengeance has been Brazilian since around '56, whenever the RN disposes of ships it has to jump through all sorts of hoops.

Rgr that Skippy, wasn't refering to Vengence, just more recently, past few years to be honnest.

Actually I seem to remember a few years back some ex-USN ships were due to go to one of the shipyards up North (as opposed to all the ones down South!) for specialist disposal, but some group of eco-bunny huggers protested they had asbestos or anthrax or something. Consequently they got turned away, not sure where to..
