Hi Phil..

I'm not sure what to suggest mate. I've just built a new system around XP SP3 and FSX SP2 and DG's Beau was the first aircraft I installed  I know Dave is on XP but not sure if he's SP3 yet. Works fine here so let's hope DG can suggest something ;-)

Hi,

anyone have any problems with the sounds.
At start up they sound like they are revving or full chat, starboard motor more so. If I briefly go to full throttle and then back to
idle I then get the idle sounds.

BTW gear retracts automatically over a certain speed. Is this how the real aircraft works.

Thanks,

Ted.

Does it really Ted.. :o I don't think that was a feature of the real one.. more along the lines that if they went in automatically.. you'd broke 'em  Will have a look ;-)

Hi Ted.... Just had her up to 300knts in a dive and the gear stays down. Sounds like your starting the sim with something other than the default aircraft?

Yo Ben :)

I just did similar only faster :o Took it up to 6000ft, dived and everything stayed down. Default Cessna at startup ;-)

My flight starts with the aerosoft Beaver. From your replies I'm guessing some sort of conflict??
Let me try chaging the Beau as deafult and restarting FSX.
BTW not complaining about the Beau, love it to bits :-)

DTR..

Try starting a flight with a default aircraft.. the Cessna or similar then chop to the Beaufighter. I know this is as boring as sin but it's the way many of us start our flights and it avoids 99.9% of all known germs ;-)

Hi,

since loading the default cessna I've not encountered the gear retract again.
I'm still getting anomolies with the sounds however.
Anyone else not have the full range of sound, from idle to max and back again. At startup I get engine sounds of high rpm.
If I push the throttles to max and back to idle I get the idle sounds. But if I then go to external and back again I get high rpm sounds?

I'm using vista with FSX SP1. I also use 2 x Saitek Throttle Quadrants. One for each engine.

BTW I managed a take off, circuit and landing without problems yesterday although I ran off the grass :-). Can I post pics here?
The engines spool up and down slowly. Is this a feature of old piston engines. I'm working out the engine power settings for each flight transition so I'll post them here if of interest. The quadrants make flying these old aircraft quite fun as you can 'work them' as you would a real warbird.

Regards,

Ted.

I think if you upgrade to FSX SP2 you'll find the sounds work as intended.

Screenshots can be posted in the gallery area of the forum.

I'd go with that Ted ;-)

SP1 really was a dog and although it solved a few folks problems, it made others worse. Get yourself SP2 from M$ and you'll probably find that not only do your sounds work fine.. the rest of the sim will run better :cpu:
