Lancaster for FSX

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll give them a try. It looks like the PD Lanc is still downloadable from several sites, including the PD one, which has just woken up again after a couple years ! Just Google Plane Design Lancaster and you'll see what I mean. A bargain in my opinion !

By the way - forgot to mention - anyone interested in flying the Lanc seriously (aren't we all !) should immediately order the recently published Haynes Owners Workshop Manual (really !) for the Lancaster. Alongside the really useful sections telling you how to remove the main undercarriage is an excellent illustrated section by ex-BBMF Lancaster pilot Ed Straw on flying the a/c from start-up, taxi and takeoff, through a display routine, and landing back at Coningsby. Maybe not quite the way the WWII crews worked (BBMF fly PA474 much more like a modern aircraft with pilot and co-pilot as well as flight engineer and nav), but some very interesting stuff in there.

I have had this problem with several aircraft. Try the following.
First load the default cessna and enable the batts, mags and then start the engine. Stop the engine then switch to the Lancaster.
Try and start the engines from cold, does this work?

Second check you have fuel (after a crash I started with 0% fuel for aome reason), check the batts are on. Check the mags are on. Check mixture is set to rich.
Crack the throttles then press the starter repeatedly.

Tried your suggestion and sadly it doesn't work. Change to the Lanc and the engines will turn over but not fire. Back to the Cessna and they fire first time.

Any other thoughts/suggestions ?

can you get the engines running with ctrl+e ?
If this works try the following. Get all then engines running, then shut them down, then try a manual start.
If this works then ctrl+e is turning on some feature or switch which you are missing in the startup.
If this doesn't work then I'm stumped and can only assume it's a bug from 2004 to fsx.
BTW it appears that lanc is now payware so I've been unable to try it.

If you like big radial warbirds try Dave G's Beaufighter. I love it but it's darned hard to get back on thr ground. Well, in one piece that is.

CTL+E has the same effect - props turn, but engines don't fire. And BTW I have the same problem in FS9/2004 and FSX, so it's not a FS version uplift bug.

I have seen a post somewhere wherein someone says he likes the PD Lanc 'once I found all the switches to get the engines started', so someone's managed it. But I can't find the post again !

I noticed some of the download sites were payware - didn't realise they all were. But (if it's not heresy to say so on this site !) at 20.00 US or 10.00 UK it's still a bargain IMHO.

Has anyone managed to port the Justflight FS9 Lancaster over to FSX? If so, what problems (if any) did you encounter and - more importantly - how did you fix them?

(or should I just go out and by the new FSX lanc?)
