Looking forward to some pictures and a review from you Peter, as and when.

By the way, if anyone's interested, a great war memoir is 'Flights Of Passage' by Samuel Hynes, a US Marine Avenger pilot who went on to become a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and Professor of Literature at Princeton University. Its quite unlike anything I've ever read in the genre; almost bleakly unemotional and detached, and he was lambasted by womens groups in the United States for one particular episode in the book ( I won't go into details ). However, his description of watching a rocket powered Ohka descending through the grey murk over Ulithi Atoll towards the anchored US fleet below, and turning his Avenger in a vain attempt to intercept it, is one of the most vivid pieces of writing I've ever come across. Despite his indifference to the pleasure and wonder of flight, his final walk round the plane before returning to civilian life really is quite emotional. I can't recommend the book highly enough. :)

This looks absolutely fantastic. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the FSX version makes it's debut sometime soon.

I bought her within a very short time after she was released and all I can say is: WOW! :welldone: The model is superb, the panel (I use only 2D) is about the best I've ever seen, and the sound file, alone, is worth the price of admission. I, of course, have never flown a Turkey, but the flight dynamics are wonderful: She's stable and easy to fly. One note, on approach she gives up the ghost quickly so I've found approach speeds of around 85 kts, WITH power, will keep me from buying the farm. Once over the numbers, power off and the airspeed burns off quickly for a nice landing. Included is the USS Langley and it's a real hoot to fly from/to. :flying:

The MAAM Turkey is, without a doubt, one of the best FS9 addons EVER. I'm not sure if there will be a FSX version nor do I know if she'll work on FSX. Anyway, MAAM's TBM Avenger is well worth every penny and is really quite a value.

From the MAAM-SIM website:
NOTE: This version is not tested with or sold for use in Flight Simulator X. (Later, folks!)

I hope they do an FSX version as I'm a big fan of any FAA bird but I do like the way they're upfront about it not being for FSX, rather than trying to get away with a half-arsed port over like some companies I could mention.

I think the "later folks!" that I quoted in the post above yours implies that there will be an FSX version along in due course.

MAAM has done a great job addressed to the still very strong FS9 community. Interesting commercial approach. May be they can see through a crystal ball..  :welldone: :welldone:

Remember this is not payware as such, Jan Visser and the others involved have made this (the ultimate FS9 aircraft?) as a labour of love as donationware for the museum.

It was due for release in 2007, but has been delayed. To make it just FSX (as is the current trend) would have delayed further. The reason it exists, is to raise funds.....if that only comes from FS 9 users (still the majority, despite the tide changing) so be it. By bringing out an FSX version in 6 or even 12 months, they can extend the life of this project much further.

Now, hopefully Jan can finish his Sabre!!!
