Would using FMC's or RXP Garmins count?

It varies greatly depending on what mood I'm in, but I'd say 90% of the time it's simply a case of 'get up and go'. I really do have to be in the right mood if I was to set aside a proper flight plan and stick to it as realistically as possible.

Sometimes I may just take off, fly around to nowhere in particular, perhaps do a few circuits, then close the sim. Sometimes I'll know what I plan to do, but have no formal way of going about it - say, taking off from one base, flying low level in some hills or mountains, then making sure I land before I close the sim. Sometimes I may work up an aerobatic routine and perhaps record it with FS Recorder. Then occasionally I'll try to do things by the book, flicking the right switches and keeping to the right speeds, altitudes and course. The Aerosoft Hughes H-1 is a lot of fun to fly, seeing as you know how dangerous the aircraft can be if you don't treat it right. Most of the fun in flying that is trying to keep everything in check, before the awkward task of actually getting it back on the ground in one piece! It's certainly rewarding.

However, now I'm tempted to try a few of the missions in FSX. The oilrig rescue was rather fun!

Realistic flight operations take a backseat to fun in my flightsim world. :) An example, my in-flight beverage for last night's 1-11 flight over the central United States was Grey Goose vodka. Not exactly realistic but it was sure fun. :partyman:

Nice one Brian  My style is 'kinda' relaxed too. Feet up on the chair opposite.. tv on.. stick either resting on my leg or on the deck. Had a 5 min 'Power Nap' while crossing the channel LFAT - EGKA in my Rapide 20mins ago followed by my dinner on a tray on my lap.. followed by doing the washing up.. a quick pop to the heads.. all in time for landing

I will admit to letting the default GPS take care of navigation. Well, except in certain aircraft that either have a good FMC model or INS system (or other navigation system), or have no ability to use the GPS. I'd love to use 100% accurate nav methods 100% of the time, but my back won't allow it. I was nearly killed in a motorcycle accident a few years back and now suffer from severe osteoarthritis in my back and other affected joints. It's something they warned me about at the time, that I'd probably suffer rapid onset and progression of arthritis due to the trauma. Since then I've also learned that I have moderate scoliosis as well, something no doctor has ever bothered to tell me. :doho:

Sorry if I sound a bit grumpy, but this is one of those days when things hurt more than normal. Also just got notice today that my last bloodwork shows I'm borderline diabetic, which isn't helping my mood at all. Guess I need to fire up Red Orchestra or something similar to burn a bit of frustration off.

I admit to being a slacker, I start with the engines running and fly using the GPS to navigate. I justify this because I am missing three things pilots normally had back in the day, a co-pilot and flight engineer to help me go through the check lists and get the engines going correctly and a navigator to keep track of all the VOR stations we are going to use and/or operate the sexton.

Nah, not realistic enough, you will have to learn to go before boarding or contain yourself until landing in that Rapide . . . :)
