Re: FRAPS test clip
Its going to be a pig to get right Garry
The only other things that used Proteus were SRN4s , Saro Princess and The second Brab - oh yes and some static ones used by the RN
in Fast boats
However NOTHING else sounded like the Brit because of the incredible combination of engine and prop.
I'll go look and listen
Also prehaps the good folks looking after Charlie Fox might have something

Re: FRAPS test clip
The SRN 4 I would think would have been unique and totally different due to that set up/
The only time I did hear Brits was on overflight but at that height Herks Vanguards Brits and even Dash Sevens :o sounded much the same as all that came down was the prop noise.
Darts sounded different at that height but those later free turbines just throbbed in the high altitude cruise with nothing distinctive apart from some were a bit deeper.
The Princess had the growl from contra rotating props so very different again.

Re: FRAPS test clip
Hmmm...That is a sound I would rather forget...After flying back from Africa to the UK seated alongside the props, it took me three days to recover my hearing

Re: FRAPS test clip
Garry, I have a video with plenty of Brits taxying about (Redcoat ones), but how do I get the sound copied??
There is also a clip, next to the Brit of a CL-44 (Tynes?) that does not sound too different. If that is acceptable (Tynes?) I have an hour DVD of Belfast ops that has sound from all aspects of a flight, both inside and out. If that is of any use, I can send you a copy by post when i am back in the UK in a few weeks.

Re: FRAPS test clip
Garry Fraps is ok.......but it needs editing afterwards.....i use Virtual Dub.....which is free and you can adjust the Frame rates to obtain that "smoothness"...
More than happy to help you on this......or make a movie for you.....

Re: FRAPS test clip
You can adjust the frame rates on FRAPS but it makes it even jerkier.
That went trough movie maker afterwards

Re: FRAPS test clip
I know.......gimme the clip and i'll edit it to show you the smoothness you can get......
I always record fraps at about 10 to 12 FPS then bump it up in the editing suite....

Re: FRAPS test clip
Th clip has the jerks in it
As soon as FRAPS is activated it goes jerky so I am seeing the jerks on the recording of it...it is not something that only appears on the play back.
The clip captures the playback just as I see it.
The FRAP clip original is 460MB
