Steady on folks.....

Which reminds me...many years ago our unit was invited, by our local US military neighbours, to partake in a friendly game of 'football'. American football had started to appear on UK and German TV screens by then, so we had a vague idea of how it worked. We were, of course, severely thrashed but the sight of a 'hairy a**ed' Para rolling about on the ground in hysterics when told he had to wear padding is a sight that will stay with me.

We did offer a return match of Rugby....this however was refused, on the grounds that it was 'too rough'.....and that's true ;-)

I saw interviews of some British folk talking about the big event last year or early this year of a Football Game over yonder
many sayiing the Americans were a bunch of sissys for wearin pads and all that. One guy was completly shite nuts about it.
stating the british football players (with the round ball) are tuffer becasue they wear nothing
not even body deoderant ..
opps haha
(but not all, some thought it was something they wanted to see)

well I don't know about all that. there have been many and very serious injurys over the years, even death, in the American football arena.

all I say is suit up and see.

having seen many rugby games and scoccer games and palyed the sports growning up
nothing hurts like getting kicked in the shins
and thats not in the flow of american football,
probably draw a flag .....15 yards ,,, personal foul

Brian - How gracious of the cowchips to demolish their stadium after that embarrassing loss! Tell me, does the new stadium also have a hole in the roof so "God can watch his favourite team"?

Derek - You got that right - Rugby is a far rougher game but American football is fascinating to me and I really enjoy watching it.

Rgr that Nigel ;-)

I've been fascinated by 'American Football' for years..seems there's more of a ritual than Rugby.

My Dad played Rugby for the Royal Navy. I remember as a kid him going out wearing a number 13 shirt....my Mum explained it many years later: he'd done it as a bet and was carried off with 3 cracked ribs and a broken arm, complaining that no-one had the right to stop him playing..

But then he was a Welshman :-#

The new one does better. It's got a retractable roof. :)

Yep. That way if the Cowboys start losing a game the roof can be slammed shut quickly to shield God's eyes from the horror of it all. ;-)

...or just put a scoop of Blue Bell in the Mint Julep and you'll have a Mint Julep float.

Brian

edit - In case anyone is wondering, Blue Bell makes the best ice cream in Texas (maybe the USA) bar none.

I wouldn't dare to put one over the other, but Braums definitely gives Blue Bell a run at a better price, but they're from up north, so Blue Bell definitely takes it for Texas.
