I think that from a production of only 10 aircraft, the one at Cosford is sufficient to remember the type. I hope that the last flyer will be preserved too, but I am not holding my breath.

They were never the best aircraft, but they were (and until recently still were) better than anything else the RAF had, with the turbofan engines of 10 years later, they would have been great. I am just pleased to have had a few trips in them, in thier heyday.

The main use of the type was to haul loads that would not fit in anything else

From all other aspects the type would have dissappeared years ago so it is indeed very fortunate that one is still active

HeavyLift were reportedly paying £11,500 a month for parking so it is easy to see why they were in a hurry

There were a lot of comments from polite asking to rude demanding that it be kept and preserved but did anyone offere to pay the monthly fee.

Like everything else, just comes down to money in the end and HeavyLift are a business.

Perhaps those that wanted to donate to the saving of this one could adopt the Cosford example to ensure it's survival or start a fund to bring the Aussie one back when it is eventually retired.
