Hello.
Thankyou for being patient but i have just done a week of shift work, Right i am running vista ultimate sp1 with fsx and fs9.
I have disconected my speaker wires yellow/black/green for my sound card (7.1 speakers ) i then pluged my headphones in started my computer made sure the headphones were working all right , i then ran fs9 flying the cls 747-200 great aircraft, and this makes the terrilbe echoy winning sound the best ,i took off changed the veiw to spot then cockpit then the other one i cant put my finger on it what it is but you can toggle round your aircraft while you flying and you can also look round, thats the best time you can hear this winning ,almost wind gushing round the aircraft ,also echoey, and yes i am pleased to say that it does it with just headphones on, i hope this helps you to help me out as this is driving me round the bend and i dont want to install windows again. Is there anyone in the know who could contact fsinsider and ask them if they know anything about this issue with sound fsx fs9 and vista.
Anyway thankyou very much for helping me out and reading this subject, i hope to hear from you soon.Perob

Yes, I would agree with John's "Shot in the Dark"...You need to look at the software that controls your sound card and turn off whatever "Ambience" that you have got selected.

And another shot in the dark...If you have a microphone connected, try unplugging it :)

Ah sorry im on a different X-Fi card... But there is Vista Drivers for your card on the website, you just have to go through the support tab, select your product then near the bottom moddle you should have a list of downloads...
