I live in Cramlington actually, (next door to Newcastle for those who don't know) and I know exactly how exotic it is round here. Ahh, those bracing icy summer winds!
Derek, I see you lived up here and moved to Dorset. I did it the other way round, I'm originally from Weymouth! Small world innit?

Btw.. if they're Pukka pies, I might join you. Never had one but always fancy trying one out when 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' comes on the box

Agree Ben but you do need a phrase book when visiting!!
I've only been there once and was trying to find the ferry port so stopped to ask. I had no idea what the guy said so just nodded. Fortunately Mrs H #1 taught kids from the local coal mine whose parents had been moved down from Newcastle and she understood the accent.

It all comes down to exposure to the different accent - I worked with a guy from Glasgow and the first few months were a lot of nods and embarassed grins from me. But then later I couldn't figure out why people couldn't understand him

And Cramlington  never been there but knew it was "up north" because of work.

Finally, only Melton Mowbray Pork Pies hit the spot.

Happy Chickens?

Happy Cows?

Happy Sheep?

Happy Veggies?

Oh come on, when was the last time you saw a happy cow or sheep knowing it was going to end up in a pie? Enough to turn you into a vegetarian that! :worried:

As for the Veggies, well I give up!!
