Ah.. okey doh then. I know East Kirkby is in Lincolnshire and didn't know of another Wisley up in that neck of the woods
I gathered it was supposed to be 'early' due to the lack of concrete but I'm not sure if 'then' was it's heyday. Surely, that would've been in the 60's/70's
Whatever.. not seen a rendition of it in this era so it's a useful addition to the scenery library ;-) Paul (VC10) is a boff on Wisley so if anyone has any info on it, it'll be him ;-)

Its also got the Valetta and Viking on it so that will have given it away
I'll contact paul about it as he could be a great help.

After WW11, when I was 7yrs old, we lived in a farm cottage on the end of the runway. My dad used to drink in the Black Swan, where one of the regulars was Mutt Summers who accidently found the field when he had to make a forced landing. At that time, Mutt was the CTP of V-A.
I remember the first Viscounts, which we kids knowingly called 4 engined Spitfires. I also recall when I was a bit older, standing behind the Black Bomber when it took off. It wasn't 'alf 'ot! The Black Bomber being the Valiant B2, of which I believe only one was built.
The airfield opened in 1943, and the concrete paving arrived in 1952. It closed in 1973. I drove past it today, as I do most days. The Black Swan is still open for business, but the old farm cottage has long gone.
Dennis.

Hi Jo,
The problem with adding things to your scenery, is that it is default and therefore totally inaccurate. Not your fault of course, that's what MS gave you to work with.
The ground falls away very steeply at the Ripley (A3) end of the runway, and about a half mile along a track from that end, nestling in a hollow, was the cottage. So you see, it would be impossible for you to replicate it. Thanks for the offer anyway.
Dennis.

Not sure how popular this next post is going to be....
...this is going to be FSX ONLY. Sorry guys. A FS9 wisley is available but its for the 1960s.
Jon
(I do have a FS9 afcad for it so if there's demand, there'll be a FS9 version but I haven't a clue how to do the exclude/flatten for it HELP )

Hi Mark
Toby was doing one and collecting info as it was a bit sparse
I think he may have made a start but it didn't get far due the RW.

The only thing missing from the FS9 wisley is a flatten and exclude. If someone could do one for me (I still have the fs9 afcad and hanger bgl) that would be a huge help and it would mean I could release the FS9 version. I haven't forgotten about it!
