I'm sure you guys don't mind a few photos:
Lancaster arriving at Amsterdam (after participating in rememberance day flypasts in The Netherlands).
GAF Transall delivering a Merlin.
Inside the DDA hangar preparing for the engine change.
She was running up the new engine last Saturday (9th May) so she may already have left for home by now.

Re: BBMF Lanc Engine Change
That could be right, there's a German firm that specialises in wood and composite props and they build a lot of props for the warbird business. I cannot remember the name of the firm right now.
Actually doesn't a Lanc use metal props? The one in Canada does.
PA474 is still at Amsterdam today or so the gossip goes. She may depart tomorrow (Thursday).

Re: BBMF Lanc Engine Change
I'm pretty certain the Lanc does use metal props mate. I was a little thrown by the 'wooden prop' comment too

Re: BBMF Lanc Engine Change
The wooden prop was a general comment about how we can't source things in our own country but can in Germany.
It was not aimed at Lancasters or any type in particular

Re: BBMF Lanc Engine Change
The Spitfires and Hurricanes all fly behind wooden German props. As you say it is a strange thing but then times do change they say. ;-)

Re: BBMF Lanc Engine Change
It may well be mate that the Lanc does use wooden props. Just because I believe it doesn't don't make it so ;-) I'd be surprised but I've been surprised before.. in fact I've already been surprised a few times todayIt was not aimed at Lancasters or any type in particular
