Cheers for that super description, Nigel, it gives some nice insight right down to the uncomfortable seat! Daft question this, but do you actually sit on the parachute, or is that rigged to the seat in another way? So you were in the right back seat, must be quite cramped I would imagine although you are pretty close to the hatch so first out maybe? Combat evasion - you mean this was training of some sort for a fighter pilot in the other Canberra, or just routine evasion practice for Canberra pilots who might be in danger of getting bounced?

Fascinating stuff though. As a plane spotting kid at Wyton, it was always a feeling of great mystery when they took off - where were they going and possibly be spying on? Your flight gives some idea of what else Canberra crews got up to when not towing targets or taking pictures.

Here's a few shots of Amelia and I at the MAM again last month - as you can see, the interior of the Canberra seems far more suited to a 3 year old than a fully grown adult (let alone one in flight suit and gear!):

Ah.. kids and cockpits! Please don't touch.. click.. don't touch.. twist.. please don't touch.. pull :@

I went in 992 the day after she'd been painted and it was a really hot day (surprising for here I know). I could barely breath because of the paint fumes
