Hmm.. 132.6 miles hey

I wondered about going back to Pirelli's as I really didn't like the BT014's (010's were the best thus far on the '9). I could've got a pair of 014's for £30 less than the 016's but that seemed pointless as I disliked em so much I'm glad to say that I have about 132.6miles on em so far and they're in much better nick than your Pirelli's The 016's are 'Triple Compound' but the matey who fitted em says thus far.. reports coming in are that they last no longer than the 014/5's. Not surprised as they're mostly used by loonies like you!

I really must get some front brakes that work one day. Mine scare me at the moment

I would not use the Pirelli's on the road as they only work when it's dry (italian!)

the 016 is a far better tyre than the 014 which i didn't like as they square off in about 800 miles for me even if i stay off dual carriageway/motorway.

Yeh.. ok mate. We ALL know how rose coloured a mothers opinion of her little boy can be so that's a non-starter I need a few more miles on the 016's before I get a full feeling of how they're going to be but thus far, the '9' is incredibly quick at changing direction once more.. a quantum leap over the 014's The 014's never once let go but I had no feel off em at all.

I've not run on Pirelli's (on the bike) since my GS1000/GSX1100/Z750 Turbo and they were Phantoms but back in those days.. the first thing you did was get rid of the original fit 'rayon' Bridgestones.. A48/M48 Michelins in the case of the Turbo. Odd because the Michelins that came on the Suzy RG250 were blinders! Never wore them out.. swapped it for a GPz550 after 12 months and what did I put on that.. TT100's (I got it secondhand with RoadRunners on)

I rode bikes for 19 years prior to leaving the UK and even had to endure a few winters worth of snow and ice riding too. Of those 19 years I was a motorcycle riding instructor for 14 and a Pt.1 riding test examiner for 10. You could say I liked bikes!

Unfortunately I have not ridden a bike since I emigrated 16 years ago as I was never able to afford one over here, plus it would mean having to take a motorcycle riding test again and as my health has gone down the tubes (I am officially registered as disabled now) that isn't likely to happen any time soon.

I still miss riding though and still have all my leather riding gear (apart from a helmet) stashed in a suitcase just in case (it still fits too). ;-)

I see on some forums they go out and buy a Suzuki Hyabusa as a first bike :o
then wonder why they crash so often

Can't be much of a test if there is one and you would pass it no problem mate ;-)

Here in Canada they have a 'tiered' licensing system for both cars and bikes. In the case of bikes you have to take an off-road test (much like the old UK Pt.1 test I used to examine) but you can use any size of bike up to and including Goldwings/Electraglides! :doho: Once you have your basic licence you are restricted to riding in daylight only, with no passengers and only on normal roads and minor highways (no motorway driving). After a period of time you can then apply for the 'full' licence and take another test to get permission to ride at anytime and with a pillion.

For cars the 'beginner's permit' allows you to drive from the age of 16 with a qualified driver as a passenger/instructor but there is also a slew of other regulations that you have to conform to too.
