Now to show my ignorance... What are the tiny pedals for? Heel brakes?

Yes Fodda, they are the brakes as you so rightly say....the braking on this one is differential so that if you use a joystick (as I do) then when you are turning on the ground use of the rudder either left or right and brake, only the corresponding brake deploys....with no rudder input, both brakes will deploy...makes turning in confined spaces a doddle.

It certainly should be Garry....although I did not have that luxury until I replaced my old worn out very ancient joystick last year where the brake button only sometimes actually worked!!!.....it was so old the manual was in Latin...
To be true, we should make our ground movements with bootfuls of rudder only I suppose but I often use the diff. ;-)
The other things I will mention Fodda is that the compass as you can see is mounted on the floor....in the real thing it was roof mounted with a mirror to read it....(far easier to put it on the floor!!) and that instrument on the top of the dash is the fuel gauge.
Not too long to wait....Dave is on Hols....but when he gets back... :kissu:

Thanks for all the info. I'm really looking forward to this little beauty. Chances are it'll be released just as I'm off on hols...
LOL! I'd really only glanced at the VC... I assumed the instrument on top of the coaming was a compass. Now I know.

The fuel gauge on the Auster is a throw over from Taylorcraft -- its not terribly accurate but does make an attitude indicator

I flew in a BA One-Eleven and there was water between the window panes about a quarter level
That made an excellent atitude indicator

That Auster fuel gauge is about as trustworthy as a politician
I read that one real-life Auster pilot actually flew on what he thought was a course of 140 deg until he realised his error
Not the sort of mistake any of us Simmers would make - is it ....
