Apart from the smoke, altitude etc, I am amazed they manage to control the A/C after it's weight suddenly drops by however many tonnes (and then depending on aircraft gets scooped to full again!) - always had an admiration for those pilots

The Neptune shot is incredible it was taken in the Mountains East of San Diego (Around Julian Calif) I believe

They are very brave men and more than a few have given their lives trying to save forests and now in Socal rich idiots
houses......


I think somewhere in here there is a clip of a KingAir spotter overflying a FS truck in the same mountains east of Julian

Ive met some of these guys - theres is nothing crazy, unprofessional or stupid about them -- they just do their job

For a nice little bit of light entertainment take a look at the film 'Always'. Some nice flying sequences even if the story is a bit twee.

I got to talk to the pilot of the plane in the opening scene. Said it took 6 takes. They never did hit the boat though. :)
