It would, but they're in the process of repainting her after doing some modifications after an engine failure last year. The word on the street is that the new scheme will be somewhat different than the old one.

I think I understood some of that, although "Gorman Ruckles" alludes me. Does not sound very nice though! I don't think the "ar" (name) is only confined to Yorkshire, I heard other Northerners use it also - am I right?

Of course, I was thinking of you when I posted that little aside in the list of shows.

Beware Nigel, Gorman Ruckles is indeed a very nasty ailment - not to be recommended at all.

I came across the use of "ar" whilst living/working in Newton Aycliffe and found it very confusing.

Ar Lad & Ar Lass in Yorkshire means son or daughter. Up there, it meant husband or wife. You can see where in certain statements you could well be looked at sideways to say the least.

I think that the limited number of episodes contributed to its success.I still cry with laughing at it,particularly the episode with the hand groping for the light switch.And the mooses head.And the hotel inspector.etc.etc.I still cringe with embarrasment at the episode with the Germans.Best Wishes EricT

The other day while watching the Tour de France I thought about Manuel from Fawlty Towers. At one point in the stage the commentators spoke of an all French team with the exception of one rider from Spain. The team's lone Spainard was their domestique. Every time he rode back to the team car to get water I could always picture Manuel's face saying "Que?"
