Very nice pics Ian. and glad to see another cyclist on here (in addition to Vegas).

Went out with the other half last Sunday, great weather - first day it hasn't been windy in ages. It was a new route for us, south from where I live, through Dedham (Constable Country and all that), through some wiggly lanes and into Colchester via Wivenhoe. Wivenhoe was a great surprise, very picturesque (surprisingly so) and even saw some parts of Colchester I hadn't seen yet (the docks - such as they are). All in all managed 42 miles, all this on a road bike although I must admit there were sections of the route where nobbly tires would have been a distinct advantage - like some interesing off-road bits (where I managed to run over a snake and almost run into a couple of deer).

Whilst in Grovley Wood, you didn't happen to chop down some trees in the clearings did you? Pesky things keep getting in the way during night flying

You should have kept on going East Ian.. you'd have just about bounced off my pub

Not far from one of your bases at Benson. The pub is at Streatley and most weekends, we get a variety of bods going in one direction or another down/up the Ridgeway. There's an annual Ridgeway Walk which ends here.. I think it's 40 miles or so in a day!! A downside of my proximity to the Ridgeway is I often get an assortment of cars parked in the pub car park left by bods who've left em there to go cycling!!

I hope that wasn't you in that Puma on Tuesday that was using the wood as cover to sneak up on the unsuspecting squaddies! As if that wasn't enough to spoil my peaceful ride, it sparked off an artillery response over on the Plain. So unnecessary!

Speaking of which, there's a Vickers machine gun?? 'Arcade' game at Yeovilton.... must be broken since I didn't hit a thing when I tried it.... I hope that's not what get's used for AA training
