I can see where you're coming from mate but I honestly don't think it applies to F1 or even footballers for that matter. One could argue that if F1 teams didn't pay their drivers/mechanics/staff as much.. ticket costs to get to see races might be lower but the nature of the beast means this will never be the case. They're in the business of winning and the more money you throw at something, the more likely you are to succeed, in general terms

There ARE degree's of 'Celeb' though. At one end, there are the likes of JB.. sportsmen and the other end.. Peter and Katie/Katy!
Now.. if you want to argue that MP's take a massive pay cut, that definately WOULD leave more money for us (the Royal us that is) as we pay for them in the first place

Well done Jenson, you have deserved this championship!!

Also well pleased for Ross being his first year as owner of Brawn Racing, he has done justice for himself and Honda must by now be kicking themselves in the nether regions for giving up their team.
Honda pulling out may have won the team and Jenson the world championship. For all we know the Honda engined chassis may have been an utter dog! Sadly the people who did lose out were those made redundant after Australia. Nice to see RB giving them their thanks post race.

it will be interesting to see what happens next year. I was watching the race on two screens, and the in-car of the Red Bull looks very much like Mclaren circa 2000/1 (not surprising given the designer) - very passive looking, driver not sawing at the wheel etc. Full credit to Jenson, but like Hambo, will his car help him next year or will Newey's car be the front runner?
I'm also anticipating no more refuelling. I reckon we could see some cracking ends to races, if anyone risks staying out for the win and gets chased down by someone on newer tires.
Sadly Rubens had a sticky few laps, where his pace let him down, but even so along came the puncture.

Are all the top placings settled then Jim?? I know that Jenson can't be caught but with 1 race left, is Rubens close enough to Sebastian to finish second in the drivers championship??

He is Dave - 2 points in it. Very much achievable, but it means Rubens relying on Vettel not scoring or being low in the points, plus Rubens himself bagging a good result if Vettel grabs any more than a point or so... so it's by no means certain!

Ah.. Ok Jim.. thanks for that

I wasn't really paying attention at that point in the proceedings. In reality, while it's possible.. being 2 points ahead would have been better. Few remember who came second anyway but it would be nice for Brawn to end up with a 1 2 in the drivers championship too

I am delighted for Ross and Jenson (although I have never really been a fan of the latter), a deserved Championship and great to have it going to team who went through hell only 9 months ago. I am pretty sure that with a Honda engine (with an engine freeze being in place) they may have won the odd race, but not both Championships. Mercedes were the real force behind 2009 and will now become an integral part of the team for many years ahead, having (allegedly) bought a 49% share of Brawn GP.
Next year will probably be a four way fight between Brawn, Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren. I am looking forward to having new underdogs to cheer for in 2010, the likes of Lotus and Manor GP (hopefully with a Brit driver on at least one of them) will struggle, but that never stopped me supporting 'Uncle Ken' in the good old days!!

Was an exciting race, what with a couple of crashes and "woman driver" moment at the petrol stattion
Well done Jenson, bought time that he had a decent car under him! Would like to see him and also Lewis get another in the bag
