Classic British Flight Sim

A really entertaining programme. An extraordinary amount of co-operation - an eccentric Englishman appears at one's front door and asks if he can run x yards of scalextri track through your front garden!!! Incredibly enough families said yes, you will see floating bridges, a bridge to defy a roller coaster to cross a pond and the amazing 'doom' spiral lifting the cars from ground level to the 'executive' floor of a modern office building.

This was a fun show and I hope that it is repeated at reasonable intervals.

Some the amateur drivers proved to be quite skilled.

So much drivel on TV nowaday it is so refreshing to have a quality show like this

I really enjoyed that program...I had a big layout of Mark 1 Scalextric with the tin cars...I had it set up in my house in Kenya and the 208 Squadron chaps used to come round for a gaming evening...great sport!...But we also had a roulette wheel in another room and I remember that it eventually broke the bank. The bank was the squadron's pilot fund and the boss was not pleased

I had a set breifly in the mid sixties. Mine was all saloon cars and we had a road/rail crossing to connect with my older brothers trainset.

It wasn't much of a layout but we had loads of fun. My Humber caught fire one afternoon much to the amusement of my brother.

I was not a happy bunny.

I respectfully think you may be confusing Minic Motorways with Scalextric (both Tri-ang of course at their zenith in the mid-1960's). The former had Rail/Road Level Crossings for use in conjunction with Tri-ang OO Gauge Railways - also, some other accessories including a car transporter plus, the then unique 'Roadrailer' Lorry/Freight Truck system. Back on topic, I got my Scalextric figure of eight set with the then new 'plexi-track', which I believe they still use, for Xmas 1964/5. The cars included were a blue Ferrari shark-nose and a yellow Lotus 19(?).

Some of the model cars there are just scale models that I made for scenery but the ones on the track are the original tin ones
