As there are no Trijet (that I can think of) currently in production (or planned?) Crash testing one would not be the best test. Ideally a twin of somesort, and early Airbus or 767 perhaps?

TBH I can't see the value of crashing a 40 year old design or similar to aid and aeroplane being built now.

Sounds like an excuse for a bit of fun

Tbh I saw that someone had posted something while I was typing and spotted neither the wink nor the poster! Had I, then I might have held my tongue [or rather, fingers]!

Good thinking Garry but 'twould be a pity to wreck a new aircraft.Just pack'em into an old 720 like sardines, standing room only then they would know how their electorate travel on public transport. EricT

I want to know what insurance company was stupid enough to sign off on the idea of having the pilots parachute out after having set the autopilot. Do these people not know that there are companies that remote control these aircraft for a living and can very easily (and much more inexpensively) do so for any aircraft they wish?

In fact, the #1 company doing it right now is British - BAe Systems.

If they really do go through with this as currently planned, I pray for the pilots who are dumb enough to sign up for such a crazy stunt (and that's all it will be) that they get out okay.

Oh yeah, it can't be a Tristar if there are only 2 pilots.

I doubt if any of the details are correct.....They pick up on the story and fill in the gaps with their media style rubbish.
