Good grief, Toby, in 1962 I started work on 2/- (two shillings) an hour/£4 a week. With petrol for my 350 Matchless at four and tenpence halfpenny a gallon and a pint of brown and mild at half a crown, there wasn't a lot left for 'investment opportunities'
