I hope Trev will pardon me reposting this photo. Its such a fine study of both the man and the aircraft, and its the way we will remember Richard Todd the most.

Hi Gary,
I was thinking more about the civilian population in my remark. Would they respond as they did in WWII? As you say, the guys and gals in uniform would certainly get the job done.

Richard presented a couple of videos I have called 'Fifty Glorious Years' about the RAF's history from the Battle of Britain up to 1990.
So sad about the tradgedy of his two sons who took their own life.

Interesting Obituary in the Sunday Express. Especially when it mentioned the Dambusters. I will not quote but it said the film depicted our gallant boys attacking the dams in their 'Wellington' bombers. Press never cease to take an opportunity to display their ignorance.

I must say I wasn't fully aware of his role on D-Day, or the fact that when he played Major John Howard in
The Longest Day, he was in a scene with another actor who was playing Richard Todd! How curious.
