Good weekend to you all,

Nick
Funny you should link that pic, Nick, I currently have it as my desktop - a majestic photo of a majestic machine.

I would like to think a company could arrange a farewell tour flight, rather than just the RAF itself, with the last VC10 in service - repainted (on one side only to save costs) to BOAC livery...MAGIC!!

HI Chris

Are there many..if any ex BOAC/BA machines left in service?

Don't think so Garry, pretty sure all of the ex BA / BOAC ones are in bits at St. Athan, if there is any left at all.

Who cares, any old VC10 in BOAC colours for a final flight is justifiable, me thinks. :)

I do as I'd like to think one of them is still flying :)

Nothing to do with any aprticular machine being painted

Looks like ZD241, which is a K4 (so ex-BA) is still with us. Unless it's been retired since July last year.

It's amazing that any of those brutally canibalised line up at Abingdon ever flew out for rebuild. :)

Abingdon certainly has very little resemblance to the storage facilities in the Mojave desert - in size or climate!
