Seems folks are quick to Judge

Kigali is about 5000 foot high - its Summer down there and hot - the aircraft was close to MTOW so shutting down the engine could have easily ruined
everyones day beyond repair.....This isnt "guess work" I asked my friend what happened and that was the answer I got.

Actually the last bit of your post is what Yaman was sent down there for -- to do some instruction on the RJ

Exactly.. and something I hit on earlier. The other engine was still on but at idle so surely they could have taxied in on that and cut the locked open engine when they knew they were down ok. I can't even envisage any of us 'armchair pilots' doing that let alone 'qualified aircrew' 8) It'll be interesting to read the official report when it's released :)
