It's amusing but begs the question.. why would anyone want to publish footage of themselves driving like that
:$ :wasntme:

Pure amusement Dave, just pure amusement from a sad old git with nothing else better to do!!

That was before downloading the setups and tweaking them slightly so that the car oversteers into the corners and using the throttle to hold the rear end I'm finding this to be a really good sim but guess like anything else will at some point tire from it and go onto something else.

Hello Mate :hello:

When you do tire.. have a look for an old sim called GrandPrix3 by Geoff Crammond. There was an earlier version (which I can't remember having) and a later one (GP4) which introduced things like traction control but I always enjoyed GP3 the best. Though the games were payware, the code was sort of 'open' and there were loads of freeware addons you could download like older cars/drivers/tracks e t c. It was the closest thing I'd ever seen to FSim as far as communities go ;) A forcefeedback wheel is a 'must have' addon for it.. it takes the 'arcade' feel out of it ;)
Then.. get yourself a copy of Colin McRae Rally 2.0 ;)

Hi Dave, :hello: Geoff Crammond, one of the best programmers in car racing sims, had GP3 and already have GP4 (the updated version) you can now even brake into the corners without the car going straight on into the sand trap!!

Thanks for the HU though have not tried the Collin McRea Rally 2.0, I am a bit rubbish on rallies for some reason!! *-)

Kind regards
Nigel.

I think there was a later version of Colin McRae Rally too but I never got that.. then they started going game console 8) With a FF wheel, you can feel the road you're on much better (hated the snow rallies.. couldn't feel JS  ). After each section, the game played back your run from outside cameras using Bink Video (the first time I'd seen it in action). Bloody stunning

Never really got on with GP4. Nothing wrong with how it looked.. I think I'd probably had enough by then ;) Most enjoyed driving the 70's McLarens in GP3 (fahookin big tyres though not as much downforce as the newer cars). I actually won a 50% distance race in a 70's McLaren.. the Spanish GP. There were only a handful of cars I'd not lapped and my winning margin was phenominal  How pleasing it is to get one over on the AI's ;) Always hated having to pit though. How real racing drivers keep their composure is beyond me

Pitting, now that was annoying, leading in a race , Schuey was behind by about 3secs. Got the order (for final) pit stop for fuel and tyres (2 stop strategy). into the pits, wheels changed fuel going in (don't it seem like ages)
Then the call.........First Gear.........all ready.......GO...... The bl**dy guy with the trolley at the front did not move....after about 3 secs I floored it.....and him!!!!! :hide:

Just hope that some-one will ugrade GP4 to no refuelling as for this coming season.

BTW....I ended up finishing 3rd!! :(

Regards
Nigel.

SWMBO used to regularly come up to the toyroom to find out WTF was going on as my shouting at the pit crew often got louder than the TV in the living room  Spa and Silverstone.. god, I used to find those bloody hard but rewarding to get right. I might blow the dust off again one day ;)

Back on topic re Grand Prix Legends - when upgrading I've always found the 1965 season cars a bit more forgiving to drive and makes it slightly easier to get into the game.

This gives a good list of links to check out:-

I see there's a new game solely out on the XBox360 called 'Indianapolis 500 Evolution' set in the 1960's - featuring both front engined roadsters and the early rear-engined cars, the latter of course pioneered by Lotus, etc. I may buy it for my son (cough!)
