Well my stars -- I managed five
The Prospect of Whitby, Eagle and Child (I used to date a young lady whose family lived in Oxford -- (the Trout, Pike, and whats the little one you have to go
down a long narrow passage to get to?) The Red lion in Avebury (my father took us there several times in the Sapphire -- I remember the pub garden well)
and then the Blind Beggar (Dont ask - or Doug will come round and "visit" you!

) and lastly The Jamica Inn (I have vivid memories of picking up spent 303 cartidge cases on Bodmin Moor again with my Dad).
Thanks for the memories gents
Leif

I wonder if you were thinking of the Birch Hall Inn at Beck Hole nr Whitby, Derek ? They served you through a hatch although it wan't their living room behind - it was their tiny sweetshop and odds & ends shop.
There was a cotton wool cloud suspended above the hatch from which they could sprinkle 'rain' onto any patron they didn't like
Oh - yes - been to Tan Hill.
Cheers

I have been to the Jamaica inn on a trip to Cornwall with my parents, a long time ago. Unfortunatly, I was eleven at the time so all I got was a lemonade.

Been there about two yrs ago mate. Took the doggie in with us and she went nuts.
Confirms the speculation that the place is haunted.
I intend to go back and spend a weekend there. I love anything paranormal.
This pub is one of the most haunted pubs in the Bristish Isles..

My favourite subject, pubs and proper British ale.
I've done quite a few of them...
Red Lion (Avebury)
Llandoger Trow
Prospect of Whitby
Eagle & Child
Nag's Head
Hatchett Inn
Haunch of Venison
Tan Hill Inn
Jamaica Inn
I'd say the Eagle and the Prospect are my favourites of all of them. Good pints of decent beer, and not too touristy. Llandoger and Hatchett in Bristol are very disappointing, and the food in the Tan Hill wasn't really up to scratch, but the walks from there are gorgeous. Red Lion is OK, but it's the only pub in the village and caters for the tourists (short pints and poor food). Jamaica Inn (20 years ago now mind) was open and full of coach parties

Not a bad lot, but I've been to better and stranger pubs in the UK. LOL... As a CAMRA member and a life-long cask ale drinker (35 years and still going) I'm a fussy bugger...

Hi Joe,
Can't remember exactly what I posted. Knowing me its probably any old junk.
I do recall posting a picture of the Rifleman pub (longest named one) some time ago.
Not sure about the ghosts though.

Been to The Nags Head and the Prospect of Whitby. There is also or was a pub in battersea or South Chelsea as it is known now called 'The London, Chatham and Dover Railway Company Lmited'. I seem to remember. Correct me someone if I am wrong. Been there to.
I drank there when the area was still called 'Ba-er-sea'
